Please remember jackets, sweaters, etc. since it is often cool in the mornings. Thanks!

The first field trip for this year will be Friday, October 17th to Walnut Drive Gardens (a pumpkin farm). Please read the attached consent form for more information. I will not be going on this trip, because of my allergies. Mrs. Salyer (our preschool teacher) will be going with the first grade. I will be teaching preschool that afternoon.

There is a form and a note attached about the Pizza Hut
Book-It Program. I encourage you and your child to participate
in this wonderful reading program. The monthly goal for first grade is twelve books (or chapters if your child reads chapter books). The students are to read the books to you. Books and stories brought home for “reading homework” do not count. Please write the title of the books, story, or chapter on the reading record sheet. Complete the record sheet when twelve books, stories, or chapters have been read and return the record to school. The children love going to Pizza Hut for their free pizza and backpack clip. Have fun listening to your child read!

Scholastic Book Clubs are also offering a reading program that our class will participate in. We will read 100 books at home. Once we have completed this, Scholastic Books will send 100 books to a school library. The last few years the books have gone to school libraries in the New Orleans area that was devastated by the hurricane. The children may use the books they read for the Pizza Hut Program for this endeavor too.
Please just write down on paper the name and author of the books (or chapters) that your child has read. We have until January 1st to complete the program. This is a great way RCS can help another school!

Please continue to work with the word cards that come home every Friday. Thank you for your help!

This Sunday, September 28th, the Primary Chorus sings at the 8:45am service. Please have your child sit with you until it is time for them to sing.
They will return to worship with you after they are done singing. Thank you!

Have a great weekend. Please continue to pray for our class. Please take your child to worship!
